Picis Introduces Prima, Bringing Anesthesia Documentation to the Point of Care

New mobile anesthesia platform gives clinicians greater freedom to document throughout their workflow.

Peabody, Mass., October 2026 – Picis Clinical Solutions today announced the release of Picis Prima, a new mobile anesthesia documentation platform designed to give anesthesia clinicians greater flexibility to document patient care wherever their workflow takes them.

Anesthesia care does not happen from behind a desk. Clinicians move throughout the perioperative environment, from preoperative assessment through the operating room and across the patient’s care journey. Yet anesthesia documentation has traditionally required clinicians to return to, or remain close to, a fixed workstation.

Prima was designed to change that.

Using a connected mobile device, clinicians can access patient information and document anesthesia care throughout their workflow, reducing reliance on fixed workstations and keeping the information they need readily available as they move through the perioperative environment.

“With Prima, we started with a very simple question: why should clinicians have to adapt the way they work to their technology?” said Marc Lloses Padilla, Executive Vice President at Picis Clinical Solutions. “Anesthesia teams are constantly moving, and the technology they use should move with them. Prima gives clinicians the freedom to document as they move through their workflow, with the information they need available when they need it. That is what Prima is really about: technology that adapts to the clinician, rather than asking the clinician to adapt to the technology.”

Designed for Mobile Anesthesia

Prima was not designed to put anesthesia software on a smaller screen. It was designed around mobility from the start, giving clinicians a different way to access and document information throughout their workflow.

From preoperative assessment through intraoperative care, clinicians can document physiological variables, medications, fluids, anesthesia times, clinical notes, and other information from a tablet while maintaining continuity across the perioperative patient record.

Prima can also receive physiological information from connected medical devices and supports HL7-based integration with electronic medical records.

Key capabilities include:

  • Mobile anesthesia documentation: Access and document patient information from a tablet throughout the anesthesia workflow.
  • Anesthesia-focused workflows: Support preoperative assessment and intraoperative documentation in a platform designed specifically for anesthesia care.
  • Connected medical devices: Receive physiological information from connected monitors, ventilators, and anesthesia devices.
  • Connected perioperative record: Maintain continuity of information throughout the patient’s perioperative journey.
  • EMR interoperability: Support connected workflows through HL7-based integration.

Built Around the Clinician

For hospitals evaluating the future of their anesthesia technology, Prima offers a mobile-first option tailored to the realities of perioperative care.

Rather than asking clinicians to change how they work with their technology, Prima brings documentation into the workflow, giving anesthesia teams greater flexibility to access and document information.

Prima builds on Picis’ experience developing technology for complex perioperative and critical care environments and expands the ways healthcare organizations can support anesthesia documentation.

The idea behind Prima is simple: technology that moves with the clinician.
