ResourceView: ED Visibility into Hospital Resources That Impact the ED
Enables EDs and hospitals to define and manage their own work flow rules, and promote communication.
Emergency Department (ED) bottlenecks are a major threat to the performance of the ED, and thus to the hospital at large. Overcrowding in the ED is primarily caused by log jams in the inpatient units. Existing bed management solutions allow administrators to evaluate the number of empty physical beds, but do little to address resource constraints that have an equal or greater impact on the ability for the ED to move admitted patients out of the department.
ED PulseCheck ResourceView™ is a communication tool that allows inpatient units to easily report their status within seconds, without pulling charge nurses and clinicians away from their duties to report on their unit’s status in bed meetings.
Status reporting is based on staffing, bed availability, engineering/housekeeping limitations and any other factors which influence an inpatient unit’s ability to accept patients from the ED.
Notifications via pagers and email to personnel capable of resolving these resource limitations allow for proactive management of hospital capacity.
ResourceView improves ED throughput. It also delivers wider hospital benefits through decreased time-to-inpatient care for admissions, improved patient and staff satisfaction, and decreased time on diversion.
