CareSuite^® Preop Manager, part of our total perioperative automation applications, is a comprehensive, easy-to-implement application for the preoperative patient evaluation. It records readiness for surgery by supporting the workflow from the time the patient is scheduled for surgery to the day of surgery — assisting each member of the multidisciplinary evaluation team in ensuring that all information and tests are complete prior to surgery.

Preop Manager stores and collects precise and accurate preoperative patient information, enhances communication among OR clinicians, and helps avoid delays and unnecessary costs from incomplete preoperative preparation.

Elimination of redundant documentation
Preop Manager records both nursing and anesthesia preoperative evaluations and provides flexible views to critical assessment information, such as patient allergies, demographics, surgical history and medical history. Documented patient information can be viewed by nursing and anesthesia, thereby reducing redundant data entry, improving communications between nursing and anesthesia and enabling staff to spend more time with patients. Preop Manager helps increase the accuracy of documentation, improves clinician communications and reduces documentation time.

Presurgical assessment
Preop Manager automates documentation of the presurgical evaluation that can occur as part of preadmission testing and on the day of surgery. It provides complete and detailed information on patient health, including cardiac risk as well as information on medical history, previous surgeries, completed tests, signed consents and surgical readiness. Automated documentation of the patient’s readiness for surgery allows staff to immediately identify any missing requirements or medical concerns. Preop Manager helps ensure that checklists of important surgical issues are completed prior to a surgical procedure and that pertinent preoperative instructions are made available to the patient in advance of the procedure.

Anesthesia assessment
Preop Manager supports the documentation of the anesthesia evaluation that takes place prior to surgery, including documentation of anesthesia techniques and risks. It promotes increased accessibility, clarity and quality of anesthesia data while eliminating redundant data entry. Through its intuitive interface, Preop Manager allows anesthesiologists to quickly build concise and complete anesthetic assessments while supporting the workflow surrounding the preoperative evaluation.

Fast documentation
User-friendly forms, drop-down lists, check boxes and free text entry simplify and improve documentation time, help reduce the risk of errors, increase the accuracy of documentation and reduce documentation time. Copy forward capabilities allow staff to easily import relevant information from previous preop evaluations into the current patient preoperative record.

Convenient access to the patient’s complete online record
By integrating with other hospital applications, Preop Manager allows clinicians to access relevant patient data such as demographics and laboratory results. For example, results of blood tests are automatically transferred into the patient record without manual data entry.
