Kristen Lalowski RN, Vice President Product Management, Emergency Care Division 2010 – In the words of an oft quoted old favorite, Jerry Garcia, what a long strange trip it's been. Last year was jam-packed. Let's see… ONC made final decisions on Meaningful Use (and then revised a couple of times) and ATCBs were announced This was great news for Picis, as we had been closely following the progress of Meaningful Use criteria and were planning product development and documentation around it. We were pleased at the revisions that allowed for inclusion of ED patients in the measurement of Meaningful Use, as we all know that the ED is called the "front door of the hospital" for a reason: on average, over 50 percent of total hospital admissions come through the ED. …And Picis got certified! We were so pleased to announce that each of our clinical products had been certified – ED, OR, and ICU. It was a long and arduous process, but it was worth it to be able to have a significant impact on our customers' ability to certify and to bring in some of those ARRA stimulus dollars to their organizations. So… which one of our ED customers will be first to certify for Meaningful Use using our product? Stay tuned! We successfully launched ED PulseCheck v5.0 ED Pulsecheck has been very well received by our customers and is live at over 100 sites. We are proud of this version for a number of reasons: - It included many customer-requested enhancements (and you will see a trend there)
- The application performance was improved (you will also see a trend there)
- It had the fewest defects and was the most-tested release we have ever had (yup, another trend)
While all these trends may sound tongue-in-cheek, I am quite serious about these items. We have worked very hard to improve product quality and performance while continuing to listen to our customers through significant investment in new SQ and development staff as well as significant process changes throughout R & D. None of this has been easy, but it was worth it if you see a difference; and we are confident that you will. Picis has a new and improved partnership with The Sullivan Group As you know, Picis has had a long-term relationship with The Sullivan Group (TSG), providing excellent Risk Mitigation content for ED PulseCheck clinical documentation. This year, we announced a new offering from TSG: Clinical Rules for the InSight ED™ rules processor. This is significant, as our customers were looking for guidance in the use of InSight ED and best ways to get the most out of the potential clinical impact it could have. TSG has created complex clinical content for the riskiest clinical cases. This is a fantastic way to show the power of what TSG and Picis can do together in an effort to better support clinicians in their care of patients. This is good stuff! Read the article from Dr Dan Sullivan in this issue of ED Line. We've put together some new optimization offerings for our customers Over time, clients had been requesting optimization services, and our services teams have been delivering these on a case-by-case basis. These were so successful that we decided to put together more standardized packages in an effort to simplify for customers and for those who were providing the services. We now have standard offerings for TRV400 conversion, ARRA Meaningful Use Certification preparation and Overall Optimization. Each one will be scoped and customized in order to best meet the needs of our customers, but these were the ones that were most requested, and we are pleased to have a more standard way to deliver them. KLAS scores are up! Picis ED moved up in KLAS (yay!), and Picis is ranked 5th overall out of all of the HIT vendors that KLAS ranks (above GE -12, Siemens - 11, McKesson - 7, Meditech - 15, Eclipsys – 14 ). We take KLAS scores very seriously, and will continue to do whatever it takes to make it worth your time to say that Picis is doing a great job for you. Yes that's right – we don't want to be good – we want to be great. To that end, please continue to provide specific feedback to your CSA and our leadership team on any areas where you feel we should improve. Being specific is much more effective in helping us understand where we should focus our efforts. Ingenix, baby!
