The American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) recommends that anesthesiologists “embrace meaningful use” because EHR technology helps standardize HIT enhancing communication and increasing opportunities for clinical outcomes research, thus helping clinicians improve patient care. The ASA indicated recently that a majority of anesthesiologists have been deemed eligible professionals (EPs) and therefore are eligible to receive individual incentive payments for the meaningful use of EHRs. If EPs do not begin meaningfully using EHRs, Medicare payment penalties will begin in 2015.
Picis Anesthesia Manager and PACU Manager, in addition to Picis perioperative and critical care solutions, have been certified for meaningful use Stage 1. Anesthesia Manager and PACU Manager 8.1 and 8.3 are certified for the criteria that support attainment of many objectives.
